Sunway University, Performing Arts Centre
The Sunway University Performing Arts Centre (PAC), officially named the Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre (JCPAC), is a purpose-built performing arts venue within Sunway City Kuala Lumpur. It comprises a 1,200-seat Proscenium Theatre and a 150-seat Experimental Theatre, designed to accommodate a wide range of performances, from large-scale international productions to intimate contemporary works.
Sunway University required a modern, future-ready venue that could support both education and professional performances, while providing the flexibility, safety and operational efficiency needed for a wide variety of productions.
Designed to international theatre standards, the centre supports performing arts education, theatrical performances, concerts, musicals, orchestral performances, conferences and community events. Its facilities include a full-sized fly tower, orchestra pit, lighting galleries, catwalks, control rooms, backstage support areas and technical spaces, providing the flexibility required for professional productions.
An Integrated Theatre Engineering Solution
Systems Electronics & Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (SENE) was appointed as the specialist contractor responsible for the complete delivery of the integrated stage engineering and automation systems.
The project involved coordinating multiple international theatre equipment suppliers, specialist consultants, contractors and complex structural and architectural requirements. SENE worked closely with Sunway University, Sunway Construction Group Berhad (SunCon), SCLA and specialist subcontractors throughout the project to ensure all systems were delivered, tested and commissioned within the project schedule.
To meet the venue's requirements, SENE engineered and delivered a fully integrated theatre automation solution combining internationally recognised stage engineering technologies.
