IMAGE CONTROL WAVEGUIDE
Impressive Detail & A Bigger Sweet Spot
Our patent-pending JBL Image Control Waveguide brings exceptional clarity and detail to all JBL 7 Series Master Reference Monitors models. First introduced in our flagship M2 Master Reference Monitor, the waveguide ensures an acoustically seamless transition between the low- and high-frequency transducers, and provides a wide soundstage and precise imaging. Smooth on- and off-axis frequency response allows the JBL 7 Series to deliver neutral reproduction across an expansive listening area in a broad range of rooms.
NEXT GENERATION DRIVER TECHNOLOGY
Custom Designed For Greater Accuracy & Output
7 Series monitors leverage JBL patents and our latest driver technologies to provide unparalleled output with greater dynamic range and extended frequency response in demanding production applications. Custom low-frequency transducers utilize patented JBL Differential Drive technology to reduce power compression for more sustained output and extended linear low-frequency performance. Our low-frequency port design works in concert with the low-frequency transducer to produce an accurate bass response at all playback levels.
HIGH-FREQUENCY DRIVERS
Dome Tweeters Can’t Compete
Each 7 Series monitor is equipped with a proprietary JBL 2409H high-frequency compression driver, which features an innovative low-mass annular diaphragm. This driver delivers extraordinary output, a wide dynamic range and very low distortion even at high SPLs. Competitive monitors utilize radiating dome tweeters, rather than compression drivers, that require amplifier limiter circuitry to prevent failure at higher SPLs which also negatively affects the speaker’s stereo imaging and dynamic range. 7 Series innovative compression design does not need limiting circuitry and is capable of reproducing frequencies with a smooth response beyond 36 kHz.
COMPACT INSTALL-FRIENDLY ENCLOSURES
Multiple Mounting Options
JBL 7 Series monitors provide construction and mounting features that make installation simple. Constructed from rugged birch plywood, the cabinets are specially braced and reinforced to allow safe mounting. Top and bottom mounting points in a two-hole mounting pattern facilitate effortless wall and ceiling installations using readily available brackets. Both vertical and horizontal orientations are supported. Integrated handles aid in speaker positioning.
A MODULAR SCALABLE SYSTEM
Customized, Cohesive, Multi-Channel Setups
JBL 7 Series Master Reference Monitors monitors are designed to easily integrate with the JBL M2 Master Reference Monitor to create a modular and scalable system that can be custom configured for the number of channels and the room size. Compact enclosures and integrated mounting points allow versatile mounting options and unobstructed sight lines.
The 7 Series, in conjunction with the JBL M2, offers ultimate flexibility for configuring a system that perfectly fits the needs of any facility.
INTONATO 24 MONITOR MANAGEMENT TUNING SYSTEM
Easy And Powerful Remote Monitor Management
The JBL Intonato 24 Studio Monitor Management Tuning System is a perfect complement to any 7 Series-based monitoring system. It simplifies setup while offering precise automated calibration and complete control of monitors in stereo, surround and immersive-audio-production rooms. Intonato 24 includes a calibration microphone and innovative Automated Speaker Calibration process that “tunes” each speaker to compensate for speaker placement and room acoustics, delivering a neutral response to the mix position—even in less-than-ideal workspaces.

Next Generation Driver Technology
JBL 705P and 708P leverages next-generation JBL driver technologies to deliver greater dynamic range and superior frequency response. The 2409H high-frequency compression driver incorporates an innovative low-mass annular diaphragm to deliver smooth response beyond 36 kHz, with very low distortion. JBL 705P’s 725G low-frequency transducer provides 14mm peak-to-peak excursion with greater linearity, delivering exceptional low-frequency output below 39 Hz. JBL 708P’s 728G low-frequency transducer leverages JBL patented Differential Drive technology to reduce power compression for greater sustained output and extended, linear low-frequency performance below 35 kHz. These proprietary drivers allow both 705p and 708p to deliver two to three times the output of existing studio monitors.
Patent Pending Image Control Waveguide
First introduced in the JBL M2 Master Reference Monitor, the JBL Image Control Waveguide ensures accuracy and neutrality while providing a wide sweet spot with increased sonic detail. By enabling an acoustically seamless transition between the woofer and high-frequency transducer, the waveguide provides a detailed soundstage and accurate imaging across the entire frequency spectrum.
The smooth, on- and off-axis frequency response allows the JBL 705P to deliver neutral response across a wide listening area in a broad range of rooms and the JBL 708P to “hear the same story” regardless of listening position and room.
Integrated Dual Amplification System
JBL 705P and 708P features a built-in dual amplification system that’s optimized for its high-output drivers. A 250W amp powers the 2409H high-frequency transducer and a 250W amp is dedicated to the 725G low-frequency transducer. This combination provides exceptional output and allows for greater listening distances, making them ideal for post production or mastering environments.
Comprehensive EQ And Delay
Although the 705P and the 708P design yields exceptional neutrality in any room, the monitors also feature onboard room equalization, so you can compensate for the adverse effects of room acoustics and enjoy the most accurate sound reproduction in any listening environment. In addition to twelve bands of Room EQ, eight bands of User EQ allow customized response curves such as the X-Curve, and compensation for “screen-loss” when placed behind a perforated cinema screen. User-enabled digital delay allows virtual alignment of speakers relative to the listening position, while additional “AV Synchronization” delay is available to compensate for latency in video displays.
Compact Form Factor
7 Series Powered monitors were developed with the modern control room in mind. A compact two-way design minimizes interference with video displays and sight lines, while still providing output that is comparable to larger speakers. The reinforced enclosure includes bottom and rear mounting points, allowing wall and ceiling mounting in either vertical or horizontal orientations.
Digital Integration
JBL 705P and 708P features analog and digital inputs and sample rate converters. AES/EBU digital inputs allow connectivity with a broad range of production hardware, including digital audio workstations (DAW), mixing consoles and digital playback hardware with sample rates of up to 192 kHz. Internal sample rate converters can be enabled to allow connection to digital signals with uncommon sample rates.
System Integration
- Integrated amplification and digital signal processing (DSP) for room EQ
- JBL 7 Series Master Reference Monitors and JBL M2 Master Reference Monitors can be combined for multi-channel systems in any size room
- Compact enclosures and mounting hardware allow versatile mounting options and unobstructed sight lines
- HARMAN HiQnet™ port enables feature updates as they become available
